Last summer, my family and I visited London for the first time. We took an early flight from Rome and arrived in the morning. The weather was grey and a little cold, but we were very excited.
Our hotel was near the river Thames. After we left our bags, we went out to explore the city. First, we walked to Big Ben, the famous clock tower. It was much bigger than I expected. Then we saw the London Eye, a giant wheel next to the river.
In the afternoon, we took a red bus to Buckingham Palace. We watched the guards in their tall black hats. There were many tourists taking photos. My sister bought a small flag as a souvenir.
The next day, we visited the British Museum. It was enormous and completely free. We saw objects from ancient Egypt and Greece. I liked the Egyptian mummies the most, although they were a little scary.
We also tried traditional English food. We ate fish and chips in a small restaurant. It was delicious, but very big! In the evening, we were too tired to walk, so we took the underground back to the hotel.
London was an amazing city. There was always something to see and do. The only problem was the rain, which came every afternoon. Before we left, I promised myself that one day I would return. It was the best holiday of my life.
