Last week, I did not feel well. I had a headache, a sore throat, and a temperature. My wife said I should see the doctor.
I called the surgery in the morning and made an appointment for the afternoon. The receptionist said I could see Dr. Green at half past three.
When I arrived at the surgery, I sat in the waiting room. There were a few other patients. I read a magazine while I waited. After about fifteen minutes, the nurse called my name.
Dr. Green was a friendly woman with short grey hair. She asked me about my symptoms and how long I had felt ill. She looked at my throat and took my temperature. She also listened to my chest.
"You have a throat infection," she said. "It is not serious, but you need antibiotics. Take one tablet three times a day for seven days. You should also drink plenty of water and rest as much as possible."
She printed a prescription and gave it to me. I went to the chemist next door and collected the medicine.
After five days, I felt much better. The antibiotics worked quickly. I went back to work on Monday, feeling ready to start the week again.
