Moving to a new school is difficult. When I changed schools last year, I did not know anyone. The first day was hard.
In the morning, I felt sick from nerves. I sat alone at a table at lunch. I did not know who to speak to.
But in the afternoon, a girl called Priya came and sat next to me in science. She asked me my name and where I had come from. She was friendly and did not make me feel strange for being new.
The next day, she introduced me to her friends. They were welcoming and funny. We talked about films and music and discovered we liked many of the same things.
After two weeks, I felt comfortable. After a month, I had a real group of friends.
Now, when I see a new pupil arrive, I always try to do what Priya did for me. A small kind action can make a big difference.
