James had been looking for a new job for three months. When he finally received an invitation for an interview at a marketing company, he was both excited and nervous.
The night before the interview, he prepared carefully. He chose his best suit, researched the company online, and practised answering common questions in front of the mirror. He went to bed early, but he could not sleep well.
On the morning of the interview, James woke up an hour early. He had a light breakfast, drank a strong coffee, and left the house with plenty of time to spare. He did not want to arrive late.
The office was modern and busy. The receptionist asked him to wait in a comfortable room. While he was waiting, he noticed that the other candidates looked very confident. He began to feel less sure of himself.
When his name was called, James took a deep breath and walked into the meeting room. Two people were waiting for him. They smiled and shook his hand warmly. That made him feel a little better.
The interview lasted forty minutes. Some questions were easy, but others were difficult and unexpected. One interviewer asked him to describe a problem he had solved at his previous job. James thought carefully and gave an honest answer.
At the end, they asked if he had any questions. He had prepared two good questions, which seemed to impress them.
Three days later, James received an email. He had got the job. He read the message three times before he believed it.
